What is stored, where it goes, and how to get rid of it.
In short
- No account is required. Without one, your work stays in your browser and never reaches the server.
- An account needs a username and a password. No email address, no name, no phone number.
- Your subjects and files are private to your account and are not read, mined or sold.
- The guide pages on this site show Google ads, which use cookies. The app does not.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app.
Who runs this site
YourSubjects (yoursubjects.com) is run by an individual as a personal project, not by a company. Questions about anything on this page can go to the address on the contact page.
Using the app without an account
If you use the app as a guest, your subjects and progress are held in your browser's local storage on that device only. They are not transmitted to the server and nobody else can see them. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them permanently, and there is no copy anywhere to restore from.
What an account stores
Registering asks for a username and a password. That's all that is requested and all that is kept — there is no email field, no real-name field, and no profile.

Your subjects and files are private to your account. They are not read for advertising, not used to train anything, and not sold or shared. The one exception is material you choose to publish yourself — see below.
Things you choose to publish
Two features make content visible to other people, and both are opt-in and reversible:
- The public library. Publishing a subject copies its content into a public listing, shown with your username. You can unpublish it, though anyone who has already adopted a copy keeps theirs.
- Share links. Creating a share link puts a copy of that subject behind a hard-to-guess URL. Anyone with the link can open it.
AI features
The app has optional AI features. If you use one, the relevant part of your subject — the text you're working on, and your question — is sent to the AI provider configured for your account (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, depending on what is set up) so it can generate a reply. That provider handles the request under its own privacy terms.
Nothing is sent to any AI provider unless you use one of these features. If you never open the AI panel, no part of your work leaves this site's server.
Advertising
The guide articles on this site — and only those pages — display ads served by Google AdSense. The homepage, this page, the other policy pages and every screen of the app carry no advertising.
To serve those ads, Google and its partners may set and read cookies or similar identifiers on your device, and may use them to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Specifically:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and elsewhere on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
- Google's own explanation of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising cookies are set by Google, not by this site, and they are not connected to your YourSubjects account or to anything in your subjects.
Cookies and local storage set by this site
The site itself sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics. It uses your browser's local and session storage for a small number of functional things: your session token so you stay signed in, guest data if you're using the app without an account, and interface state such as whether a subject is in edit mode.
Server logs
The web server keeps standard access logs — IP address, time, the URL requested, the browser's user-agent string — as essentially every web server does. They are used for diagnosing faults and abuse, are not combined with your account content, and are not used for advertising.
Children
The app is intended for students, including school-age ones. It asks for no personal information beyond a username of your choosing, and we would encourage younger users not to put their real name in it. If you believe a child has published personal information through the library or a share link, get in touch and it will be removed.
Deleting your data
Deleting an individual subject removes it and its files. Deleting your account — from the account menu in the app — removes the account, every subject, all progress and all uploaded files. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
If you want a copy of what's stored about you, or want it deleted and can't get into your account, ask.
Changes
If this page changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
